Our current structured Junior Development Programme began in Summer 2004. We currently have over 100 juniors in the programme. We operate a junior cub rating system and all new juniors are evaluated and placed into the group appropriate to their skill level. The club is an LTA Accredited Mini Tennis centre.
Our Junior Performance Programme was launched in October 2005.
Ealing Boys 11U Team Winter Champions!
ELTC’s Boys 11U team have had a fantastic winter of tennis, finishing convincing winners of Middlesex West Division A. The winning squad comprised of Demetri Smith, Hugo Altman, Hans Manku and Joey Roberts.
Not only did the team beat every club in their division – Lensbury, David Lloyd Heston, Esporta Northwood, and Eastcote (Wayfarers gave us a bye) – but they also won every single rubber throughout the season – a remarkable achievement!
The result was confirmed on Sunday 28th March after an exciting, and very close, singles between Demetri Smith and Alex Chan (who is just ahead of Demetri in the Middlesex rankings). Well done Boys!
Junior LTA Tournaments
We are pleased to report that these went well and the Red tournament (8 & under) was won by Luka Petrovic and the Orange tournament (9 & under) by George Loffhagen. Both Luka and George are part of the ELTC Performance Squad. Well done to them both and to Chris Sordyl and Gillian Comyn for their organizational efforts.
Ealing Juniors Crowned Champions of Middlesex
Ealing Lawn Tennis Club’s U13 team secured the 2008 Middlesex Winter League Mixed title, finishing convincing winners of their Division. The winning squad consisted of Siobhan Abrams-Brand, Hector Hardman, Lauren Oliver, Mathias Saint-Hilaire and Tim Saveliev.
Iain Britton, our club secretary explained, “This is a great achievement for the team who top the county’s tables for the first time. The club is one of the few members’ owned clubs in London that have indoor courts to complement all weather and grass facilities, and the ability to continue to play and attend coaching all year round has clearly paid dividends.”
Hot on the heels of this success, another of ELTC’s junior squads – our U9 Mixed - topped the Mini Green tables, bettering over seventy clubs in the county to become champions of Middlesex. The squad, made up of Demetri Smith (capt), Karim Marchould, Hugo Altman, Joey Roberts, Emma Loffhagan, Caroline Handford Chmaj and Kureha Yamaguchi, played their final match against Westway on March 15th, with a draw enough to secure the championship.
The teams have trained hard to achieve this fantastic success and fully deserve their wins. They were presented their awards by our chairman Andrew Oliver in our new Clubhouse on Friday 27th March in front of proud parents and other club members. Praise is also due to their coaches, Chris Sordyl and George Matheou, for their dedication and commitment to the development of the juniors at ELTC.
