Dear Ealing Golfers,
I am pleased to report that our Golf Day at Sudbury GC went well and judging by the feedback that I have received, a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all, including the excellent Ham Egg & Chips!
The weather was warm with only a few occasional spots of rain. It was a good course with excellent greens and the final Stableford scores were mainly clustered in the high twenties/low thirties.
Nearest the Pin was John Loffhagen and "Nearest the Pin in Two" was Samuel Oliver.
The Longest Drive was slightly controversial as although Samuel's drive was arrow-straight, it was so long (c315 yards) - he had actually run out of fairway! The rules committee were in a dilemma but in the end, it was very sensibly decided to award the prize to Tim Allen, who had hit an excellent drive not far behind Samuel and was indisputably in the fairway!
Our main prize Stableford winner was Jon Southcombe with a very steady 17 points on each nine, giving him a winning score of 34 points. Well done Jon!
Tony Lewis and Samuel Oliver were tied for second place with 33 points each but Samuel took the second prize by virtue of having a very slightly better back nine.
Thanks again to all of those who attended and hopefully, we will have another ELTC Golf Day later this year.
